Often discribed as "The land beyond the highlands", Caithness is characterised by it's wide open landscapes with big skies, dramatic cliffs, wide sandy beaches, and the open moorland and contrasting farmland of the interior.

Stretching from Cape Wrath in the far north west of Scotland across to the east coast on the Moray Firth, Sutherland's lanscape ranges from the rugged high cliffs and sandy beaches of the north and west to the softer sand dunes of the east.

Part of the Highland Region, Ross & Cromarty lies South of Sutherland, and is best described as the amalgamation of the old Counties of Ross-shire and Cromartyshire.

Not being allowed to escape from the far north very often this portfolio contains my photography from the areas of the Highlands and Islands that I get to visit less regularly.
